Nokia 5800

Nokia have been the top seller of mobile phones for a long time now and want to revive the market with their Nokia 5800 / N97 touch screen phone - their effective iPhone killers (Nokia N97 N-series touch phone has already been announced and released this year).

From Q3 2007 to Q3 2008 they lost 15.4% of the market share, dropping to 35%, due mainly to the iPhone. With the release of the Apple iPhone it has caused a ripple in the market and mobile phone manufacturers have realised that they need to raise their game. Blackberry have out their Storm 9500 (bottom of top 10) which will be a hot gadget of 2009 (once it gets the firmware it needs to speed up navigation) and will be available before the end of the year. Sony have their X1 touch phone out which, if it was running Google Android, would probably be my number 1 - as it is gorgeous to look at. But since the X1 has Windows Mobile 6 and is therefore rather slow and clunky, it’s not. HTC have release their G1 which albeit has the best mobile OS in my opinion, Android, doesn’t leverage it and certainly isn’t attractive - no where near the iPhone killer it was marketed as.

Digital camera review: Nikon introduces SLR D5000

The Nikon D5000 features a 12.3-megapixels image sensor with DX CMOS format and a 2.7-inch adjustable-angle screen (vari-angle monitor). It can take photos continually at a speed of 4 frames per second and record High Definition (HD) movies with a resolution of 1280 x 720 at a speed of 24 frames per second. The camera has a HDMI connector to support a direct HDTV connectivity.

The vari-angle monitor can be used when it is attached to the back of the camera in a safe way but the user also can turn it freely, rotate it or move it up and down. The camera also offers “Subjective Tracking” autofocus which locks on to a moving subject as well as “Face Priority” autofocus that can detect up to five faces in a scene in order to focus the closest subject.

The camera also supports 19 automatic Scene Modes that will adjust the camera settings in order to capture sport pictures, portraits, candlelight photos, and more. Also, the camera has some editing functions that include a Soft Filter effect, Perspective Control (that can fix some distortions in perspective when taking architecture photos), Color Outline (that creates monochrome outlines of objects in images) and other capabilities.

A dust reduction system is included with the camera. This system cleans the sensor and removes the dust from there directly. There is a “Quiet Sensor Mode” that keeps the mirror cycling noise to a minimum, which is perfect to use the camera in wedding events and other events that require a careful operation.

When Camcorder joins our daily life, capture all our precious moments, even company us traveling around the world however because of the size of the oldies camcorder which was big, we got trouble in taking care of it. However now, Panasonic launched SDR-S10 “The World Smallest Camcorder” measures 1.2 x 2.5 x 4.5 inches, 10x optical zoom, 2.5-inch LCD. With the ability to record on SD/SDHC format, Panasonic reveal that a 4GB SDHC memory card will allows 100 minutes recording time whereas the 2GB SDHC memory card will allows 50 minutes recording time. SDR-S10 designed in a stylish look, easy shooting that allows you to shoot your precious moment comfortably in the palm of your hand. Watch the stunning pic of the smalles camcorder after the break.

Unfortunately no word on the price of SDR-S10 however it will be available on Europe around the beginning of this May.

Brief Impression of Sony Ericsson Idou

There is no doubt that the superb quality of Sony Ericsson Idou has caught many people attention since its announcing. Like what Maximus of justamp.blogspot.com had stated in his personal review. The overall point for Sony Ericsson Idou is excellent. Although the phone detail features are still unknown so far, but we can know its value on following description.

Idou’s display has excellent quality for colors and brightness. We can get its smooth and good balance when playing back the video. The speaker can be heard even in the crowded background behind you. The camera is G900-esque that comes with autofocus feature. The camera lets you focus on certain chosen area.

Then when talking about the build, there is another reason for people to be interested to Idou. Its sturdy body is very comfortable in your hand. When one squeezes it, the phone will not creak. The phone brings Sony Ericsson color style and has no metallic touch on its body. The good looking design of Idou may be inspired by C905 and Xperia style in some parts.

Solar powered rickshaw will blow you away

Solar powered vehicles are something we are already used to. Energy saving technologies is in fashion and it seems to be a very important factor in helping our planet out of the global warming consequences. London based company Solar Lab is in the thick of designing a solar powered rickshaw that can appear in English roads soon. Rickshaw is a famous Indian mode of transport coming with three wheels.

The cutting edge is scheduled to be released next year with 75% of its power coming from photovoltaic placed on the vehicle’s roof with rest of the power from pedal driving. The concept is useful for both reducing CO2 emissions and small effort needed for a rickshaw’s driver as the most energy comes from photovoltaic. The concept is alluring and the rickshaw appears to be the first human powered hybrid vehicle which is going to make our brain reel.

The situation with current traffic jams as well as English pollution can be drastically changed thanks to this intelligent high tech solution. Rickshaws caught on and one day will possibly be driven in many cities. According to the experts, the solar powered rickshaws are about to reduce level of pollution as well as CO2 emissions. Solar Lab maintains that one solar powered rickshaw will be able to decrease CO2 emissions by up to 2 tons, which is very amazing.

Griffin Power Dock 4 For iPhone/iPod

It’s often more than likely that American families and households have more that one Apple product. I myself have an iPhone and an iPod Classic. The Griffin PowerDock 4 for iPhones & iPods is an awesome choice for any family or bunch of roommates that wants to have a large charging station in their kitchen or living room. The PowerDock 4 is also an ideal choice for vacations and traveling.

Sort of like “stadium seating” for you iProducts, the PowerDock 4 is simple in its utilitarian design and is meant for being away from the computer. I say that because there are no USB inputs or anything else besides the wall plug and the 4 charging ports.

Embracing the usual visual flair indicitive of Griffin products, the PowerDock 4 looks very upscale with its brushed aluminum exterior and would match many home’s kitchen appliances. The Griffin name is emblazoned on the front and the rest is made of a glossy black plastic. The bottomside has a rubber base to give the PowerDock 4 traction on most all surfaces.

The PowerDock 4 comes equipped with 8 black plastic inserts for many different iPods and iPhones. Once they are attached they require a knife to remove so there’s no real risk of them falling out when packing into a bag for travel use.

As simple as the PowerDock 4 is, it would have been nice to see some extra features nonetheless. Adding some USB ports would have been nice for charging Mophie Juice Packs or iPods/iPhones in 3rd party cases, and computer compatibility would have made it more versitile. Charging indicator lights would have been well received as you have to manually check each gadget to see where it’s at during the charging process. A bonus would also be a retractable power cord so the PowerDock could be just one piece. Also be sure to check the list of included inserts to make sure you don’t have to order additional ones.

End result is that if you need something to ONLY charge multiple iProducts, then the Griffin PowerDock 4 is probably your best bet. I have seen a couple other chargers out there for up to 4 devices, but I would reccomend checking out the Griffin PowerDock 4 before anything else.

Pros:

Simple setup and easy to use
Looks at home in the kitchen
Decreases the amount gadget clutter
Cons:

Does not “sync” with computers
Only charges Apple iPods and iPhones
May be pricey for just a charger
